HOMENEW WORKPAST WORK

Emily is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Glasgow, Scotland. She graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2021, where she developed her practice through a range of mediums.
Since moving to Glasgow, Emily has opened a darkroom, where she continues to explore alternative process photography. Her practice focuses on a variety of techniques, including lumen printing, a process dating back to the 19th century. Lumen prints are created by placing organic materials on photographic paper and exposing them to sunlight, resulting in delicate, sun-exposed images.
Through these alternative processes, Emily creates visual narratives that capture the fleeting interplay between light, time, and organic forms, inviting reflection on the interconnections between nature, memory, and human experience. Emily’s work is influenced by her interest in how the natural world shapes our collective and individual histories. She is motivated by the question of how these histories, shaped by memory and culture, influence our perception of the land. This exploration encourages her to reflect on humanity’s relationship with nature and how we might develop a deeper connection and responsibility toward the environment.

Her Lumen Print Series, developed through personal exploration of her relationship with the land, uses plants from the Scottish landscape as subjects, using this landscape as a visual foundation for her work. Emily’s work speaks to the passing of time and the stories that the landscape holds.
